Subject: Marin Open Studios ICB Video Clips are now on YouTube! &  Another Video Taping Event

Greetings

Joan and I wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed the video taping and seeing all your art at the ICB building Saturday.  We video taped 28 artist studios in about 5 hours of taping.  We would have liked to have spent more time talking to each of you, but we had to keep moving as fast as possible to tape everyone on the list.

The 28 video clips are now on Youtube! Each studio was visually unique and you can see how much creativity and thought was put into creating them. Unfortunately, on the west side of the building, some of  the beeping from the construction  was picked up by the microphone. That's one of the challenges of taping in studios, you never know what the taping environment will be.

Another Video Taping of Artist Talks
Joan and I would like to volunteer for one more taping of Marin Open Studio "Artist Talks".  This would be a more structured artist talk where we could have ideal audio and lighting. We would like to open it up for any ICB and Marin Open Studio artists.  The more artists there are in the MarinArts Youtube site, the more viewers it will bring for everyone.

The way this could work is we could set up in one of the studios that is quiet and has good lighting. Each artist brings 1 or 2 works and gives a 1 to 3 minute talk in front of other artists. Besides a chance to be video taped, this is a good opportunity for artists to get to know each other. It can also be a social event for participating artists. We did this type of an artist talk with Sebastopol Open Studios and it work quite well. Many artists commented on how the event helped them build community.

What we need for an Artist Talk Taping
We need a studio that has soft natural light and a quiet environment. A studio on the East side of the ICB building would be good for this.  We could video tape 40 or more artists. Each artist brings 1 or 2 pieces of art that would be set on easels.  Then you can talk about your art and/or take questions from the audience.  Even if you were already video taped, this is a second opportunity to tell your story.  The more you get in front of the camera, the better you get at it.

Let us know if you are interested in helping to organize this and in taking part.  We will also email this project idea to the staff at Marin Arts Council.  If you have a contact with the Arts Council, please pass this on to them. We'd like to get the word out to the other Marin artists.

It has tips, for example, on how to embed and play your video directly into your own website. There are suggestions for what to talk about for the video taping of artist talks, etc.
