What are peoples first memories of inspiration?

Reading Adventure Books

I remember reading adventure books, like Call of the Wild, by Jack London. For a while, when I was asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I said,  "a hunter and fur trapper in Alaska". There was also a book about some guys that drove a Land Rover around the world.  This inspired me to want to travel around the world and seek adventure, which I eventually did for around 10 years.  Edwin

The fossil record, clouds and the pencil

Childhood inspirations:

1. the fossil record - the vast time span of the geology & paleontology.

2. The clouds - their shapes and freedom.

3. The pencil - a means of dialog with imagination & self-discovery. Gary

A Family Trip

My first memory was at the age of four when I was on a family trip. What I remember was that it was very dark and late and suddenly there I was surrounded by family members looking up at this lighted structure. I did not understand where we were but I felt a surge of excitement and felt like all the lights went on around me. Joan

Nature

There have been many moments of inspiration, but they culminate & often arise from my interaction  >> nature. Places that have been especially inspirational have been areas in Northern California (Humboldt Co/Del Norte/Oregon). They remind me of vacations as a child & as an adult ?? my family where there is a strong spiritual essence with the Redwoods and areas surrounding them.  In addition, music had also been a strong connection to my spiritual side.  Paint by the numbers set

1) The not knowing what the picture would look like

2) Paint!!! The smell if it, the feel of it- the application in a confusing patchwork

3)The SURPRISE!  To know and see all these different colors and shapes end up being: just of water. water full of every color! Not solid blue, green or? Rita

Fisher-Price People

These are the little fisher-Price people I used to play with when I was young.  They inspired me to create the cartoons characters I draw today. Donna
