Collages and Comments - Under Construction

Edwin   People - I get inspired by people, sometimes, sometimes not. I had the awareness about my collage. At first I choose pictures that had the feel of inspiration.. It tended to be mountain scenes. I kept adding images to the point where it became crowded. This depressed me with all the clutter.. I began working with it and organizing the clutter and it was slowly taking shape.	Question for the collage: What images speak to me about inspiration? Pictures of     lightness     pastel colors took pictures of inspiration     integrated  them with other images Don't like some of the images now It started to get too cluttered but I can't take if off the sensuous girl sits at the gate Mountain retreats No one opened the flaps to see what is underneath
Many pathways into inspiration. The whirling flight of inspirations (ida)	Unexpectedly sumptuous - sensuality bursting out everywhere like spring flowers. All natural processes are in order. Impossibly bright bird leads  us excitedly into the book of mysteries. (gary)

Ida	community, sharing, closeness and aloneness (ida)     -fearless to tell the truth, frees up energy.
Food and faces Isn't there enough to go around? Let that child's smile be the face of my own joy. Let that old man's hunger rumble in my own belly. Let me caress the brow of that boy Hold that woman's gaze Let my love expand to fill the space between the stars. (jan)	We are all together, and plenty for all. A feast of family with all the relatives. Bonds of blood. The red liquid we have in common. Smiling faces all look toward one another, finding their commonality. (Gary)
people, people people a world full of people the round heads, roundness, roundness, roundness inspiration comes from being around people lots of different cultures and a big orange slice in the middle? what's that about? the big question water and ice and linear abstractions I'd like to meet these people and see what they have to say  about inspiration? ice cold on the bare skins (edwin)

Gary	Tiger in his fullness has surmounted the abyss firmly rooted astride his floating island. Take me to the river, wash me in the water. the tiger jumps out,  with a mystical feel swirling water I like the whirlpool and the mask big eyes of the tiger gary likes the tiger he's talked about it in the past what is is that he likes the power? the beauty? What does this have to do with inspiration?     probably he chose images that inspire him nice coherent blue color     helps to tie it together forgot the question?  the maturing of a creative gift? where am I going?  (edwin)

Jan	Intersection of chaotic energy gossamer lives leading into the heart of Inspiration Where the roots and branches infinites mally offer up their desire for youth and by this offering are nourished simultaneously by the darkness and light cell by cell reaching towards the self and the other the single clear call Earthward, Skyward  (jan)
Season's in miniature, adrift in rippling sea. The compass has broken from its mooring, and we are adrift, giddily like a roller - coaster or ferries-wheel. Are we there yet? (Gary)	The nature and the unnatural. Like a complicated web of life. Creative use of mixed media. (Sandra)
the trees all tied together she came up with something quickly but is has a balance and the edges cut an interesting idea put a hole in the middle and spin it round and round inspiration of ideas could grow at the base and spread out as ideas grow (edwin)

A folding screen with moon-window-we are all together learning and playing. We are looking at the opportunities - accepting life's gifts.(Gary)	I love it. 3 emotional expressions. The creativity. The unusual grouping of things and people (ida)
the fold-out inspiration a different approach reminds me of the shrine she did at Mt Madonna has words lots of little stories things to think about the love hearts jump out at me (edwin)

Sandra	The myth and the facts of beauty. Seeing beauty with a new eye. (Sandra)   First planned the collage, then forgot the question, went to a more freeform approach. what happened happened.. beauty is the inspiration, seeing beauty everywhere is inspiring.
Am I the mythical beast, the serene goddess? Am I the dancing statues - legs spread, hands clapped? Or the open blossom? Am I the ancient ruin, the tattered sleeve, the key poised to open the closed door? Am I the winged trumpeter, the winged ghoul The shadows of splayed wings? The balancing dog? the disembodied self? I like the white space I should have used this to give space to the ideas I tend to crowd them and the black space what was her inspiration? surprise? the frog looks at me fact: death is coming myth: the angles and the Buddha a bit of humor with the dog balancing on the ball Joan says balance is important the eye of awareness, always watching open the door to the other side and finally the angel of death Sandra said- missed some meetings,  wanted to do something practical. what was the question? she forgot.  dealing with beauty...  (edwin)

	just colors nice clean and uncomplicated refreshing I should try this simplicity, a mood and not a lot of images like my collage could place is on my wall as a relaxing images  (edwin)

Inspiration insights from daily life.

Part of the task was to keep an eye out for clues to inspiration during the week. document when you feel inspired, or when you see something that relates to inspiration. We build our reality form these subtitle clues around us. Become aware of them and document them. Becoming aware of how inspiration arises in ourselves during the day. What creates the environment to allow our inspiration to come through?

  • Razor's Edge movie, a moment of inspiration in the mountain hut. A WW I American soldier and after the war he searches for meaning. He reads books and works at menial jobs. He goes to India to gain insights and ends up in a temple. The head monk tells him to go to a mountain hut in the cold snow. There he burns the existing wood t keep warm. After the wood runs out he burns his books and comes to the realization that what is important is experience.
  •  Lives of the Nine Muses. I went and heard the author talk at Cody's. She got her inspiration for the book from reading a letter by an artist to his Muse.. I asked her, "have you ever been a muse?" "My husband is a painter and I've been in some of his works." I then asked, "In your studies did you learn anything new about the nature of inspiration?"  her answer was unclear to me. She mentioned she does not recall where many of her ideas come from because they go through an evolution."
